Detailed itinerary for 21 days Uganda Rwanda Primates tracking

Day 1: Pick up from the airport – transfer to hotel

Arrive at Entebbe International Airport. Our driver and/or a representative from the company shall be available to welcome you, transfer you to your accommodation. You shall be briefed regarding the tour and answer all your questions. Meal plan: Lunch and dinner, Accommodation: Cassia lodge

Day 2: Kampala – Sezibwa falls – Mabira forest walk – Source of the Nile Jinja

After an early breakfast, the driver picks you up at 7:00 am to kick off your long adventure, starting off with eastern Uganda. You will drive through Kampala and head eastwards along the Kampala – Jinja highway. First turn-off is to the Sezibwa Falls, a Buganda cultural heritage site, with beautiful waterfalls and cool atmosphere. Spend an hour here hiking the rocks, watching birds, and learning about the myths of the falls and the ancient traditional worshiping that is still practiced here.

Thereafter return to the road and make another stopover at Mabira Rainforest – the largest forest in Central Uganda. Head out for a 2-hour trek to the track the habituated Grey-cheeked Mangabeys, watch lots of birds, monkeys, squirrels, and enjoy the aroma of an African jungle. Return and get back on the road and drive to Jinja. Check in at your accommodation, have lunch and thereafter head out for an hour boat ride on Lake Victoria to the Source of the Nile. Day 3: Travel to Jinja, Sipi falls and community coffee tour

After breakfast at 7:30 am, check out, drive out of Jinja and head further eastwards through Mbale town to Sipi Falls in Kapchorwa District. The Sipi Falls are a series of three stunning waterfalls situated in the foothills of Mountain Elgon. Check in at the accommodation (Sipi River Lodge), refresh, and thereafter head out for a 3 – 4 hour trek up and down the foothills of Mountain Elgon, visiting each of the three waterfalls and enjoying spectacular vistas from up Mountain Elgon to the flat plains of Karamoja in the distance. Return to your lodge for lunch. Later you could opt to walk through the local communities and coffee farmlands. Dinner and overnight is at the lodge. Day 4: Transfer to Kidepo valley national Game Park

After early breakfast, embark on a long drive to the north of Uganda and get to Kidepo Valley National Park – arguably Africa’s most spectacular wilderness. Lunch en-route. Arrive to the park in the evening and transfer your lodge for dinner and overnight. Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch and dinner, Accommodation: Kidepo savannah lodge

Day 5: Safari in Kidepo valley Game Park

Wake up for an early breakfast and head out for the early game drive. Kidepo Valley National Park is endowed with remarkable wilderness and lots of wildlife including lions, buffaloes, elephants, giraffes, zebras, hyenas, cheetahs, ostriches, jackals, and gazelles.. Return for lunch at the lodge before heading out again into the wilderness for more adventure. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Day 6: Transfer to Murchison falls National game park (lunch en route)

After early breakfast, check out and depart for Murchison Falls National Park – Uganda’s largest game park. You will stopover in Gulu town to have lunch. You will get to Murchison Falls National Park in the evening, transfer to your lodge for dinner and overnight. Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch and dinner, Accommodation: Pakuba safari lodge

Day 7: Early morning game drive and afternoon boat ride

Wake up to an early cup of tea/coffee at 6.00am and at 6:30 am set off for the game drive. Expect sighting of Lions, Elephants, Buffaloes, Giraffes, Jackson’s Hartebeests, Reedbuck, Uganda Kobs, Warthogs, lots of savanna birds and wonderful scenery. After, return to your accommodation for breakfast and lunch. Later set out for the afternoon Launch Cruise along the Nile to the base of the Murchison Falls.

There are lots of wildlife sighting along the Nile, including, Hippos, Crocodile, Buffaloes, Elephants, and lots of water birds. At the base of the falls you can opt of the Launch and hike along the falls to the top of the fall. You meet the driver at the top and transfer to back to your lodge. Day 8: Transfer to Lake Albert

Have breakfast and check out of the lodge at 9:00 am and travel to Hoima. You will drive along the Rift Valley escarpment and enjoy lovely views of the volcanic landscape and verdant countryside. Day 9: Transfer to Kibale forest national Game Park

Have breakfast check out of the lodge and leave for Kibale National Park. The drive along the scenic Albertine rift valley continues. You will stopover in Fort Portal town for lunch before proceeding to Kibale Forest National Park. Check into your accommodation that is situated just outside the park. Spend the day relaxing and enjoying the natural environment outside at the lodge. Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch and dinner, Accommodation: Kibale forest camp

Day 10: Chimpanzee tracking Kibale and Bigodi walk

Wake up to an early breakfast at 6:30 am, have breakfast, and transfer to the park offices for briefing. By 8:00 am you trek into the forest to find the chimps and sight a lot of wildlife. You will spend 1 hour with the chimpanzee, to see how they interact as you take photos. Return to the lodge for lunch. Later head out for a nature walk in Bigodi Swamp for sighting of primates and birds. Return to lodge for dinner and overnight. Day 11: Transfer to Semuliki national park

After breakfast check out and transfer to Semuliki National Park situated about two and half hours’ drive from Kibale Forest. Upon arrival hike to the iconic Sempaya Hot Springs. Transfer to your accommodation for lunch, later set out for a game drive for some wildlife sighting, which include Uganda kob, reedbuck, savanna elephant, duiker, waterbuck, warthog, giant forest hog, and birds. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch and dinner, Accommodation: Ntoroko game lodge

Day 12: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Game Park

After breakfast check out of the lodge and travel to Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will stopover in Fort Portal town to have lunch. Proceed to and get to Queen Elizabeth National Park. As you drive through the park to get to your accommodation, you will be treated to the scenic landscape dotted with beautiful crater lakes, lush grasslands, and occasional big game. Day 13: Early morning Game drive and Afternoon boat ride on Kazinga channel

Wake up to early cup of tea / coffee and head out for early morning game drive at 6:30 am. The park is wonderful with lots of big game and a very beautiful scenery. Expect to see lions, elephants, Topis, kobs, buffaloes, hyenas, and leopards. Return to the lodge for breakfast and lunch. Later set out for the afternoon boat ride on the Kazinga Channel and a natural stream of water joining Lakes Edward and George.

The channel is home to a variety of wildlife and attracts big game to drink water and cool off the heat. Expect to see lots hippos, buffaloes, elephants, crocodiles, monitor lizards, and so many birds. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Day 14: Early morning game drive in Ishasha and Evening game drive in Ishasha

After an early breakfast, check out, drive through the Ishasha area of Queen Elizabeth National Park for a chance of sighting the Tree-Climbing Lions as well as a number of big game. Lunch en-route and proceed to southwestern Uganda to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – home of the Mountain Gorillas. Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch and dinner, Accommodation: Enjojo lodge

Day 15: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable forest

After an early breakfast, check out, drive to Bwindi Impenetrable forest. Lunch en-route and proceed to southwestern Uganda to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – home of the Mountain Gorillas. Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch and dinner, Accommodation: Rushaga gorilla camp

Day 16: Gorilla trekking – Batwa community

Wake up to an early breakfast, pick a packed lunch, and transfer to the park offices at 7:30 am for briefing by the rangers. You are assigned the habituated gorilla group you shall track and by 8:00 am set off into Bwindi Forest to find the gorillas. You spend an hour with the gorillas, return to find your driver and refresh, later visit the Batwa community. Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch and dinner, Accommodation: Rushaga gorilla camp

Day 17: Transfer to Mt. Mgahinga Game Park and community walk

Transfer to Mt Mgahinga Game Park, get there in time for lunch, after, spends the day enjoying the quiet and magnificent highland scenery all around. Go for visit local communities, which are very welcoming and eager for visitors. Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch and dinner, Accommodation: Travellers rest

Day 18: Golden monkey tracking

Wake up to an early breakfast, pick a packed lunch, and transfer to the park offices at 7:30 am for briefing by the rangers. You are assigned rangers and guides, the tracking starts at 8 am, then you start tracking on the known Gahinga trail and when you locate the golden monkeys, the forest literary becomes alive with all moving around, up and down and all over the place, you get to spend one hour with monkeys and then follow the Gahinga trail back to the starting point to call it a day. Day 19: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi with canoe ride and community walk

Transfer to lake Bunyonyi and spend the day enjoying the soothing atmosphere of Lake Bunyonyi and magnificent highland scenery all around. Take a canoe ride on Lake Bunyonyi and explore its islands, return to the lodge for lunch. Hike the highlands and visit local communities, which are very welcoming and eager for visitors. Day 20: Transfer to Lake Mburo Game Park

After breakfast, check out and travel to Lake Mburo National Park. Upon arrival in Lake Mburo, drive through the game trails and view a number of wildlife including zebras, impalas, buffaloes, elands, waterbucks, birds, and marvelous scenery. Continue to check in at your accommodation, refresh, and have lunch. Later set out for a relaxing evening boat ride on the Lake Mburo and also view some wildlife including hippos and several birds. Day 21: Morning Nature walk and later travel back to Kampala / Entebbe for drop off

Wake up for an early morning nature walk into the park for a chance to view some nocturnal wildlife at close encounter. You are led by an armed ranger. Alternatively, you could opt for a horse ride for this experience. Return for breakfast, check out and travel back to Entebbe to catch your evening flight back home. Lunch is en-route. You also get to make a stopover at the Equator point for some picture moments. Meal plan: Breakfast and lunch
