Rwanda is a birding haven with many destinations where a variety of colorful birds can be spotted. Rwanda as a country is situated in the Albertine’s rift dominated by afro-montane forest, savanna grassland plains, swamps, rivers, wetlands and lakes which hosts an estimated population of 750 species of birds. Though, there is no bird endemic to this country, the montane forest and related habitats embraces it with 29 Albertine Rift Mountains Endemic and several Lake Victoria Basin Endemics, which should be on any birder’s wish list. Rewarding birding can be done across the country and even close to Kigali, no matter how long you are staying there.
