Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary

Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary safari, the island is 23 km southwest of Entebbe mainland. Established in October 1998, it’s a home to 49 orphaned and rescued chimpanzees by Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) from illegal poachers. The island can be accessed by speed boat, which takes only 45 minutes from Entebbe and 15 minutes by air transport and 90 minutes by motorized canoes

Detailed itinerary for one day Ngamba island chimpanzee Sanctuary tour

You will be picked up by our driver / guide and therefore be ready to set off from your hotel / place of residence early morning after your breakfast to waterfront beach; embark on a booked boat, which will take about 45 minutes from Entebbe waterfront beach to Ngamba Island.

On arrival you will be briefed by the rangers at chimpanzee sanctuary, take your breakfast and late on head to feeding platform to participate in the Chimpanzee morning feeding at 11:00 am. Besides that, visit the veterinary doctor, who will explain to you about the health of chimpanzees, have lunch and later go for bird watching and view of other species like lizards, spiders, butterfly and fruit bat. After return to the boat and transfer to Entebbe.
